After her first day of preschool with Ms. Jan, our daughter changed our usual mealtime prayer to the one she had learned in school that day:
Thank you for the food we eat,
Thank you for the birds that sing,
Thank you, God, for everything.
And thank you to Mommy for making us dinner tonight. Amen.
She may not have remembered all of the lines, but she had the spirit of it down pat. She was so proud to share this little spark of faith she had experienced that day. This little spark has grown into a vibrant flame as she shares it at every meal we have with grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
We are grateful that Blessed Trinity helps our children, and our family, to grow in our faith together. Each day brings a new spark of faith into our lives: whether it is a formal lesson in class, a shared Mass on Wednesday, or a new mealtime prayer from the snack table.
