Commitment to Service: Creating Birthday Celebrations

VEAP’s Birthday Bag program has its roots at Blessed Trinity. Blessed Trinity students and twins Nicholas and Nichole Hayden ‘02 started this project as a response to understanding not every child in the community is lucky enough to have a birthday celebration. Through the Birthday Bag project, bags containing cake mix, frosting, plates, napkins, party favors and candles are assembled and then given to VEAP. VEAP distributes the bags to those in need. We are proud to continue this project and contribute to the more than 15,000 birthday bags that have been assembled since Nicholas and Nichole started this project in 2002.

Students fill birthday bags with supplies.

Since Blessed Trinity’s beginning, we have supported VEAP with our service projects. Most notably are our continued support of the Birthday Bag project and monthly food drives. As a school family, we help VEAP collect the most needed items for their food shelf. Each month a call for spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned veggies, rice and more is made to our community. Students who contribute to the food drive participate in a Spirit Wear day. Service truly is core to the spirit of our school.
